Nigerian billionaire and business mogul, Olorogun Oskar Ibru, has passed away, aged 67.
The news of his demise was broken by his family in a statement broadcast by Arise News on Wednesday.
The renowned chairman of the Ibru Organisation, died after a brief illness.
The nature of the sickness and where he was when he passed were not disclosed.
Oskar Ibru was one of the most popular of the Ibru dynasty and was for decades a key figure in Nigeria’s corporate world.
The late Ibru played a major role in expanding the conglomerate established by his late father, Olorogun Michael Ibru.
Their business interests spanned oil and gas, shipping, real estate, and commerce.
It would be recalled that the family patriarch, Michael Ibru, passed away in 2016.
The family has not announced funeral arrangements for Oskar Ibru, but they are expected to be released shortly.
Tributes have since been pouring in for the late businessman. Prominent journalist, Dele Momodu, described him as “an extremely friendly gentleman”
He also called him a “socialite per excellence,” who was so loved by families and friends.
