The police in Ogun State have arrested one Fatai Quadri after clips of him battering his wife, Rukayat Quadri, in their residence in Illese-Ijebu leaked.
Quadri allegedly committed the offence on the 15th of September, 2025.
Police from Igbeba Divisional Police Headquarters, Ijebu Ode, reportedly arrested Fatai after the clips went viral.
He was seen in the clips repeatedly inflicting fist blows on the victim, wounding her in the process.
Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Omolola Odutola, said preliminary investigation showed that the ass@ult arose from a marital dispute over allegations of infidelity.
The PPRO said the suspect had transferred ownership of a 10-room en-suite apartment jointly built with his wife to another woman.
The wife learnt of this development and confronted her husband, who then resorted to violence to subdue the wife.
Odutola said the victim was hospitalised after the assault, while the suspect remains in custody.
She added that he would be arraigned after the conclusion of the investigation.
The PPRO said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, expressed the Command’s zero tolerance for domestic violence.
The commissioner warned those indulging in violence to desist or face the wrath of the law.
He called on victims of violence or threats to report to the nearest police station for immediate action.
