‘I cooked 80 bags of rice, using 612kg oil in Guinness jollof rice attempt’ — Hilda Baci

Nigeria’s famous chef, Hilda Baci, has disclosed that she cooked a total of 80 bags of rice with 612kg of oil in her historic attempt at a Guinness World Record, cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
Baci pulled off the stunt on September 12, 2025, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos in a bid to earn another Guinness World Record.
The cooking attempt attracted thousands of young Nigerians, who cheered her every inch of the way.
The chef took to her TikTok account @hildabacion to list the massive quantities of food items and cooking ingredients she used.
The food and ingredients that went into the giant pot of jollof include:
4,000 kg (or 80 bags) of washed basmati rice
612 kg of oil
800 kg of Gino Asun peppered chicken + party jollof
600 kg of her signature jollof pepper mix
220 kg of Gino Asun & peppered chicken cubes
20 g of Gino curry and 7 g of Gino thyme
300 kg onion, garlic & ginger blend
164 kg of fresh goat meat
1,200 kg of gas
Baci also said it took her and her team nine hours of fire, passion, and teamwork to serve over 16,600 plates of jollof rice.
She said the food was prepared with “joy, love, and community.”
The celebrity chef had earlier said the record attempt would take place at Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island.
However, this was changed to Eko Hotel and Suites, also in Victoria Island.
Buzz about the event was all over social media as preparations went into overdrive for it.
The chef did photo and video shoots with the gigantic pot that was to be used for the challenge.
More activities were also woven around testing the giant pot, creating further awareness for the project.
On D-Day, she announced that the record-breaking pot had been safely dropped at the Eko Hotel venue by 4 am.
Before the event started, the arena was filled with thousands of fans who wanted to witness the historic occasion and partake in the huge jollof feast.
