An Abuja-based activist, Yunusa Yusuf, also known as Buhun Barkonun, has passed away, allegedly after marathon sex with a side chick on an empty stomach.

The incident happened in an Abuja hotel room, where Yusuf lodged for days with a lady identified simply as Ruth, according to Abuja Gist.

Yusuf, 47, was, until his death, Senior Special Assistant on Community Development to the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu.

The deceased reportedly lodged in a hotel in the Karu-Jiwoyi part of Abuja on Tuesday, September 8, 2025.

Hotel workers claimed he was holed up in the room with Ruth for days. He reportedly did not consume food but ordered copious amounts of alcohol.

On the day he passed away, his companion came out to get an energy drink for him after noticing that his energy was going down.

Yusuf reportedly consumed the product and slumped shortly afterwards. He then fell into a coma.

Ruth raised an alarm and, with the assistance of hotel workers, rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

The police said an inquiry has been launched into the death.

The deceased activist became well known during the #EndSARS protests, when he mounted a fierce campaign against the continued protest.

Yusuf wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police in October 2020, asking the police to clear FCT roads of protesters.

He argued in the letter that the #EndSARS protesters were disrupting the lives of law-abiding Nigerians in the city.

Yusuf, who claimed to be representing the indigenous people of Abuja, warned that the people were fed up and were on the verge of taking the law into their own hands.

He claimed that the protest had led to unnecessary deaths and wastage of farm produce.

Yusuf further complained that wage earners were beginning to starve after the protesters had stopped them from working.

Yusuf claimed that he and his group initially supported the protest, but were disappointed that the protesters continued even after SARS had been disbanded.

He called on the police and the federal government to take immediate action against the protesters in the FCT.
