The operatives of OCHA Brigade have allegedly shot dead a pregnant woman and three others at Onitsha Main Market.

The incident happened at the Emeka Offor Plaza area of the market on Tuesday, September 9.

The state-funded squad is tasked with ensuring a clean environment, sustainability, discipline, and order within the state.

The squad reportedly arrived at the market and attempted to enforce the rules according to their mandate. In the process, they asked some of the traders to remove their wares.

The traders allegedly resisted them, and an altercation broke out, leading to the firing of shots and the killing of four people.

Fellow traders wailed loudly at the scene and lamented the death of their colleagues who arrived at the market hale and hearty in the morning.

One of the traders lamented that Anambra people were now living in fear because guns were given to people with questionable character.

The Anambra state government has not commented on the tragedy.
