
Many parts of Lagos are locked down after a torrential early morning rainfall filled the roads with floodwater.
Microsecondnews reporter in FESTAC reports that the roads are filled with floodwater, making movement difficult. The residential areas are bare of people as everyone stayed indoors.
In Maryland, the flood level is waist-high in some areas, with many motorists stranded after their cars stopped working in the flood.
Videos and photos on social media also showed that residents of Ijede in Ikorodu are having tough times, as some communities were submerged.
Other affected areas, according to reports, are some parts of Lagos Island, Ikoyi, Dolphin Estate, Alexander Way, Obalende and Lekki.
Other affected areas included Ikorodu Road, Agege, Ikeja, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Oworonshoki, Oshodi, Apapa, and Alimosho, grinding business and commuting to a halt.
The rain is still falling in some parts of Lagos as this report was being filed.
Forewarnings from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) indicated that there would be thunderstorms and moderate rainfall starting from yesterday, Monday.
It was forecast that the situation would continue through the week.
The agency also warned Niger, Kogi, and Lagos States to brace up for the rains and thunderstorms
The areas mentioned at the time included Ajegunle, Lekki and Ikorodu.
