Popular social media comedian and content creator, Sanku, has passed away after his car ran off a bridge along Ogbomoso road in Oyo State.
The death of the entertainer was announced by a fellow comedian, Yemi Elesho on Facebook.
Sanku had been involved in another accident two weeks earlier, but escaped unhurt. A video of that incident is online. You can see it on our Telegram Channel here.
This accident that claimed his life happened as he and four others, including his elder brother, were on their way to Ilorin.
An unnamed entertainer claimed in a video on X that Sanku’s car was usually driven by his brother.
But for this fateful trip, he asked his brother to relax and hired a driver to take them. The vehicle was said to be at top speed when one of the tyres burst, as a result of which the driver lost control of the car.
The comic’s car fell off the bridge into a river below. Rescuers quickly retrieved the occupants of the car.
Sanku was described as dead, as he was completely unresponsive. Rescuers and his friends can be seen in a video of the scene, crying.
The men were seen calling out to him and lifting his hand to see if he would respond. No one was seen carrying out a CPR procedure on him to revive him.
Road safety officials later arrived at the scene and moved the occupants to a hospital, where Sanku was reportedly confirmed dead.
Sanku’s body was then taken to the mortuary.
The comedian released a skit on August 4 in which he humorously portrayed the afterlife.
The comedian joked in the video that he needed people to be with him requested his partner to cross over so they could enjoy hell together.
Tributes have been pouring in for him since the sad news hit the airwaves on Monday.
Actress Funmi Awelewa took to her Instagram page to lament that she was heartbroken.
She said, “Even film sef never come out!” suggesting that she might have collaborated with the deceased on a production that is yet to be made public.
Awelewa declared that it did not make sense.
