The Dangote Group has retrieved the corpse of the late Ruth Otabor from the hospital and taken it to the mortuary for preservation pending burial. Otabor was the younger sister of BBN Season 7 winner Phyna.
Otabor reportedly breathed her last about 6:30 am on Sunday while undergoing treatment following an accident.
It would be recalled that Otabor’s leg was amputated after she was hit by a truck linked to the Dangote Group near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, on Wednesday.
She was said to be on a commercial motorcycle (Okada) at the time the incident happened. The okada operator reportedly died on the spot, while Otabor sustained serious injuries.
Her leg later had to be amputated to preserve her life. However, it appeared that many of her internal organs had also been compromised by the accident.
The family’s lawyer, Eko Solicitors & Advocates, announced on Sunday that Otabor lost the battle for life “about 6:30 hours”.
The family asked for the public’s understanding as they mourned the passing of their daughter in privacy.
They also said the funeral arrangements would be announced later.
It was learnt that Dangote undertook to take care of the medical bills of the late Otabor. The Punch learnt from a member of the family that the company was contacted the moment Ruth Otabor died.
The company’s staff reportedly arrived shortly to move the corpse to the mortuary. The anonymous family member expressed hope that Dangote Group would also foot the bill for the funeral of the deceased.
