The Ekiti State Police Command have held a man for allegedly beating his wife to death during a disagreement.

The man, a farmer in Efon Alaaye, went to the farm very early in the morning on the fateful day. He gave his wife an instruction to join him on the farm later in the day.

It was learnt that the wife, however, arrived later than the man had instructed.

In anger, the man resorted to flogging the woman the moment she arrived on the farm.

The husband’s assault left the woman with bruises and in pain. He reportedly then asked his wife to fetch water for their use from the nearby stream.

It was while on the errand that the wife slumped and died beside the stream. She was suspected of having suffered internal bleeding during the assault.

Ekiti Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed that the husband had been arrested and was being held pending the completion of the investigation.

He disclosed that the suspect would be arraigned after completion of the investigation.
