The body of an accident victim, Chado Daniel Danladi, has been recovered from the lagoon, making it the second body recovery since a car fell off the Third Mainland Bridge into the water below on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
The recovery of the body was confirmed by the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA).
Danladi was in the Toyota Camry saloon car, which fell into the Lagos Lagoon after it crashed into the embankment.
The car was being driven by Aisha Maikudi Ibrahim, 27, who also died in the accident. She was returning from an event in Ikoyi with Danladi, described as her colleague.
It is yet to be established what caused the accident.
All that is known for now is that Ibrahim left the event where she provided her services as a vendor and was heading home. She lived in Gbagada, while Danladi lived in Ikeja.
It was initially believed at the time of the accident that there was only one person in the car.
This was later disputed by those who saw the two leave together. LASWA’s public affairs unit confirmed the development.
The organisation said the second victim was aged 31, and lived at 7 Oremeta Street, Off Opebi Link Bridge, Ikeja.
The bodies of the victims have been handed over to their respective families, while their friends pay them tributes online.
