The police in Enugu State have arrested an 18-year-old man, Obodoagu Ikediekpere Wisdom, for allegedly kidnapping and killing his five-year-old second cousin, Obodoagu Wisdom.

The Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, announced that Wisdom was arrested with a 24-year-old accomplice.

He gave the name of the accomplice as Sunday Michael, who was a security guard at 9th Mile.

Michael, who hails from Mayo-Belwa LGA in Adamawa State, assisted Wisdom in his heinous act.

Police operatives from the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad picked up Wisdom on August 12, 2025.

Ndukwe disclosed that the police were contacted about a missing child on 26th July 2025.

Later, the police were informed when a demand was made for a ransom of N1 million through Michael.

Ndukwe said the suspect killed the victim when the money he demanded was not paid. He reportedly then buried him in a shallow grave in a bush near their residence in Okinitor, Amankwo Ngwo, Udi LGA.

Through a technology-backed investigation, Michael was picked up, and the trail led to Wisdom.

Upon arrest, Wisdom reportedly confessed to the crime. He thereafter led the police to the burial site, where medical personnel confirmed the child was dead.
