A Kenyan man, Komajina Joseph, has narrated the embarrassment of being called to identify the corpse of his wife, Paulina Lohi, who died under her side dude in a hotel room in Nairobi.
Paulina had been married to Joseph for more than 15 years. However, she had been caught a few times in extra-marital affairs by her husband, who always forgave her.
Granting an interview to Kusaga Television shortly after the incident, Joseph said his wife sneaked out of their home about 10 pm while he was at work.
“She left the children all by themselves to keep a sexual appointment with another man in a nearby guest house”, Joseph lamented.
He narrated that he finished his commercial motorcycle (okada) business after 10 pm to find that his wife was not home.
Joseph said the children told him his wife had left some moments earlier. He said he then proceeded to prepare food for the kids, as they were hungry.
The okada rider said he called his wife’s phone, but the phone was switched off. He said he waited endlessly for her and then retired to bed.
Joseph reported Paulina missing
The following morning, Joseph said he went to the nearest police station to report that his wife had been missing since the previous night.
It was then, one of the officers told him they also had a report of a woman who died in a hotel room during the night.
They told him to visit the mortuary where the woman’s body was taken to, in case she was the person.
Joseph said to his huge embarrassment, it was his wife’s lifeless body. He said the police told him Paulina died during a sexual encounter with a strange man, who did not leave his contact details.
The strange man, realising what had happened, reportedly told the receptionist he needed to buy food nearby.
The hotel staff reportedly checked the room when the man did not return and found that his female companion was dead.
Paulina’s family kicks
Joseph explained that despite the embarrassment his wife caused him, her family were making trouble with him too.
He said the family were insisting that they would bury their daughter without him and they would take over their children.
Joseph said this was because he had not paid any dowry on his late wife despite being married to her for 15 years.
He said he was planning to do it but was not able to gather enough resources in the face of mounting responsibilities at home.
Paulina’s past Infidelity
Joseph disclosed that he had caught his wife in compromising positions with other men in the past, but he forgave her.
He said one day, when he advised his late wife to stop cheating on him, she told him she needed money to maintain herself.
Joseph claimed Paulina told him he could not stay with him alone because he was broke. He said he appealed to her to be patient with him, but apparently, the appeal did not work.
