An unnamed Nigerian man is allegedly being held at a police station in Ghana after he was accused of raping a teenage girl in the bush.

The man was said to have carried the 15-year-old girl into the bush at Nkwantanan Teachers City, Gomoa East District, Ghana.

The victim’s mother, Cecilia Krampa, told the police that the suspect waylaid her daughter on her way home with her younger sister.

According to her, a friend of her daughter from the tailoring shop where there were students visited her, and when she was going, her daughter accompanied her.

On her way back, the suspect attacked her, while her younger sister ran off to summon help.

The suspect reportedly took the teenager into the bush, where he overpowered her and threatened her with a knife.

He then allegedly slept with her and escaped before her younger sister came back with an okada rider.

The mother of the victim reported the matter to the police, who sent detectives to arrest the man.

Their efforts were abortive as the man absconded from the community entirely.

The Gomoa Buduburam Electoral Area Assemblyman was said to have mobilised local youths to search for the suspect.

They finally apprehended him and handed him over to the police on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

He is expected to be arraigned in court.
