Public outrage has greeted the emergence of a video showing the brutality of a youth corps member, Jennifer Edema Elohor and her colleagues serving in Anambra State by some armed vigilantes.

One of the female corps members, Jennifer Edema Elohor, was filmed being repeatedly hit by men believed to be vigilantes.

They tore off her top and held onto her skirt, nearly tearing it off her body.

The assailants were later identified as belonging to Operation Udo Ga-Achi, also dubbed the Agunechemba Vigilante Group.

They arrived at the lodge housing National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in a van and on motorcycles on July 23, 2025.

Jennifer Edema Elohor, worst hit

A video shared by Haven 360 Foundation on Monday shows the moment the men descended on corps member Jennifer Edema Elohor.

She was left wounded and partially naked, while some of her colleagues managed to scamper to safety.

Their male counterparts can be heard in the background discussing, with one asking the other to call the ‘Director’

Haven 360 Foundation reported that the men accused the ladies of indulging in online fraud, locally called ‘Yahoo-Yahoo’.

The victims reportedly denied the allegations and told the men they were corps members serving in the state.

They reportedly even produced their  NYSC identification cards, but the men were not convinced.

The Foundation described the attack on the fresh graduates as a violation of their rights and dignity.

It further alleged that, beyond what was captured on camera, the ladies were subjected to unspeakable sexual humiliation by the vigilante operatives.

Government pledges to punish the men

The Anambra State Government has taken action on the matter as it ordered the arrest and detention of the men involved.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Special Adviser on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, confirmed that the men belonged to Agbunechemba, a state security outfit established under the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025.

He said the incident happened when the men chased suspected cultists into a residential compound.

Emeakavi said that although their mission was legitimate, their actions violated the law and were being investigated. He disclosed that he had met with Elobor and NYSC officials to hear their account of the incident.

The governor’s aide said disciplinary measures were already being taken against the officers involved.

Emeakavi also disclosed that the operation the group was involved in at the time, Operation Udo Gatchi, was a joint one entailing the police, Department of State Services officials, army, civil defence, and state security personnel.
