
A man has lost his life in an accident at the Volkswagen Bus Stop inward Mile 2, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The man, driving a Toyota Highlander, reportedly collided with a yellow bus illegally picking up passengers along the roadside at Volkswagen bus stop, inward Mile 2, Lagos.
The registration number of the car was given as APP 150 EY. The second vehicle involved was a yellow-painted commercial bus with registration number KJA 328 XH.
Eyewitness accounts indicated that the Highlander was coming at top speed and rammed into the back of the bus, which had stopped on the roadside to pick up passengers.
The driver of the Highlander died on the spot.
It was learnt that it took the officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), some time to extricate the body of the victim from the car wreckage.
The wreckage was towed to the Ojo Police Division while the corpse of the driver was deposited at the C-Niger Mortuary, Abule Ado, Lagos.
Following the accident, there was heavy gridlock along the busy Mile 2 corridor.
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the family of the victim.
He called on motorists to exercise restraint and avoid overspeeding on the road.
