More information emerging about the demise of legendary actor Segun Remi, better known as Chief Kanran, has indicated that he fell in his home and passed away.
This was disclosed by his niece in an interview with Alore TV posted on their channel on YouTube today.
The lady, who is the daughter of Chief Kanran’s elder brother, Yemi Remi, said the veteran actor was not sick at all.
“He spoke with my father the previous night up till about 11 pm. He also attended a church’s anniversary on Sunday. There was nothing wrong with him,” the niece said.
She said Kanran was only managing high blood pressure, but was not experiencing any major crisis in that regard.
The actor’s niece also said Chief Kanran would have been 64 in September 2025.
According to her, Chief Kanran was alone in the house when he fell while going to use the toilet. The actor’s niece said there was no one readily available to give him support.
Kanran’s niece said the accomplished actor had died by the time someone went into his house to check up on him.
She disclosed that the family had tentatively put his burial on September 19 and 20.
A friend of the actor, Olori Eniola Atanda, who is the Olori of the Oba of Arepo, also told Alore TV that Chief Kanran was not sick at all.
She said the news of his demise was a rude shock to her. The Olori of Arepo called on everyone to take their health seriously and do regular check-ups.
