An abducted boy has allegedly been murdered by suspected kidnappers after he defied an order by his abductors in Anambra State.
The unnamed boy was allegedly told by the kidnappers to molest his own sister and he refused. He was then reportedly shot dead.
This was disclosed by popular activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, in a Facebook post.
Gwamnishu said the late boy was abducted together with his two sisters by armed bandits.
The abductors reportedly asked for a ransom that the family could not afford. Following the failure of the family to provide the demanded money, the bandits reportedly tortured the children and humiliated them.
Gwamnishu said the armed bandits ordered the boy to sexually assault one of his sisters. When the boy refused, the armed men reportedly shot him.
The human rights activist said this was a crime against humanity, and no child or anyone else should live under such terror.
He called on the government and security agencies to prioritise the safety of citizens and increase security presence in the crime-prone areas.
Gwamnishu called for the dismantling of criminal gangs hibernating in the forest and bringing to book those who killed the boy.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said he was yet to be briefed about the incident.
