Five people have lost their lives after three students of Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State, placed a bet to race two cars in their host community.
One of the drivers of the two cars reportedly lost control of his car and crashed into a roadside shop.
The winner of the ill-fated race was to earn N30,000 but the three students in one of the cars perished instantly in the crash.
The out-of-control car also killed two pedestrians near the road side shop.
