A Pentecostal church pastor, Joshua Kesena, Pastor Kesena for short, has been dragged online by netizens after an old tweet of his celebrating the birthday of his side chick was exposed.
Pastor Kesena, a pastor of Celebration Church International (CCI) Benin, and his wife Opeyemi, are very visible on social media as spiritual relationship counsellors.
Pastor Kesena shares spiritual messages and marriage advice on Instagram, YouTube and other social media.
Pastor Kesena showcases wife as a role model
He also takes time to showcase his wife as an example of what a Christian woman should be like.
While trying to make a point about the rare qualities of his wife, he made a post about how he had forgotten his wife’s birthday twice in a row and hurt her deeply.
He wrote that instead of his wife attacking him and making the home hostile for him, she instead gently pointed out how his thoughtlessness had made her feel.
The pastor counselled other women to emulate his wife so that they could have a peaceful home.
Message backfires
Some netizens saw the lovely advice and decided to dig into the past of the pastor. What they found is not complimentary to him.
They probed his X account as far back as 2016, where they found a tweet of him openly celebrating his side chick’s birthday on the app.
The September 9, 2016 post reads: “Happy birthday to my side hoe @Rocca.!!! Thanks for all the late night booty calls you keep. God keep you for me”.
Kesena brazenly posted a picture of himself and the lady in question in an intimate pose.
A netizen quoted the tweet and upbraided Pastor Kesena for remembering his hoe’s birthday at 9 am on a working day but failed to remember the birthday of his lawfully wedded wife two years in a row.
The tweet was retweeted many times, with ‘Ope’s husband’ trending among the top ten topics on Nigerian X for days.
The cleric has reportedly deleted the tweet now, but it is too late, as the screenshot is all over social media.
Reactions
The incident has generated massive reactions with many commentators criticising those who ordained Kesena as a pastor without probing him thoroughly.
Others noted that what he did was in the past and that he had probably repented before becoming a pastor.
Others blamed him for not deleting the incriminating tweet after becoming a pastor.
However, the celebration of his side chick was not the only indiscretion of this pastor. More digging by netizens revealed some tweets about his nieces that many thought were inappropriate.
In one of the tweets, he talked about missing his niece, her hugs and ‘wet kisses’.
On the strength of that tweet, a US-based Nigerian professor, Uju Anya, has advised the wife to leave him. She argued that the tweets of the man revealed some deep character flaw in him that could imperil their future together.
