A passenger on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos had to be physically bundled off the aircraft after she became violent.at the local wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Sunday.
Sources said trouble started when an air hostess told the passenger to switch off her phone, apparently when the plane was about to land.
The lady became confrontational and allegedly slapped the air hostess. A clip of the incident showed the visibly angry passenger repeatedly hitting a female cabin crew member.
Another clip shows the air hostesses leaving the area and calling on airport security men for assistance.
She continued to scream inside the aircraft, with a voice saying in the background, “She’s destroying the aircraft”.
Two male officials later boarded the aircraft to carry the lady out while she flailed and kicked. She held on to the curtain to prevent being dragged out. The angry lady only let go of the curtain after she was exposed, as she was not wearing a bra.
She then used what remained of her tops to cover her exposed bosom.
Once on the ground, the angry passenger continued to yell and charge at officials and hit a few of them.
She was later bundled into a waiting passenger bus and driven away from the tarmac.
The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, said he did not have all the full details last night.
He promised to comment fully today, but appealed to passengers to obey the cabin crews of any aircraft they board.
Achimugu said the instructions are meant to enhance the safety of everyone, and should not degenerate into violence.
