A parasail instructor is facing prosecution in Tunisia after he allegedly sexually violated a female customer in the air during a flying session.
The victim was a British mother who was on holiday with her children in Tunisia at the time of the incident.
She had wanted to do the flying with her friend, but when it was time to go up, they were told the wind was not friendly.
As a safety precaution, each of them was advised to go with an instructor, who would use his experience to pilot them.
The British mother, who hails from Merseyside, said she took her friend on the flight without an incident.
From the beach below, she could see that there was a space between the instructor and her friend.
But when it was her turn, things did not go as expected. The man allegedly adjusted the harness to bring the woman closer.
The instructor, then, allegedly groped the woman and pressed his crotch against her. The man was also accused of wrapping his legs around the woman midair.
The victim said she felt helpless and scared as they hovered in the air above the resort town of Sousse.
The British mother said the instructor was even moving back and forth into her in the air, while talking to her in Arabic.
She did not understand what he was saying. The woman also described the instructor as ‘only a young lad, maybe around 20’.
The violated woman said she started crying the moment they landed. She immediately asked for the water sports centre’s manager to report the incident, before going to the local police.
The distraught woman told The Sun that she had booked the £6,000 (N12m) easyJet package holiday with her children.
She lamented that the experience was ruined by the incident.
The accused instructor has been arrested, according to the British mother. She also disclosed that her insurance company and the British Foreign Office were assisting her.
