Bag National Awards, Flats

The Federal Government has doled out mouthwatering gifts to Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress, for winning their fifth straight AfroBasket Women’s Championship.
The reward for their excellent performance includes $100,000 each (About N150m), a furnished flat and a national award of the Order of the Niger (OON).
Their coach, Rena Wakama, and his team also got $50,000 (About N75m) each.
The Federal Government largesse was formally announced at a colourful reception held in honour of the team in Abuja on Monday evening.
President Bola Tinubu’s wife, Remi, and the Vice President Kashim Shettima represented the president at the ceremony.
The Nigerian president had recently given similar gifts to the Super Falcons for winning Nigeria’s 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.
Continuing the winning streak of the Super Falcons, the female basketball team claimed their seventh AfroBasket victory on Sunday, beating Mali 78–64 in a hard-fought final.
The team appeared shaky and wobbly at the beginning of the tournament, but got better with each match.
D’Tigress showed maximum growth and resilience throughout the tournament.
