‘I blew over N10m to study Pol. Science, but can’t find N100k job’ – Babcock University Graduate

A young graduate of Political Science has lamented that after spending over N10 million to study at Babcock University, he has not been able to secure a ₦100k job.
In a video that has gone viral, the young man said he spent between N1.2m and N1.7m per semester. He lamented that the investment had not paid off
“The course I spent over N10 million to study, I cannot even find anyone to pay me N100,000 per month,” the young man said. (Pidgin translated to English).
He chastised himself for opting to study a “very useless course” that no one is looking for in the real world.
The graduate said those who have a hope of securing meaningful employment in Nigeria are the ones studying Accounting, Banking and Finance, Law, Medicine, Medical Laboratory or technology-related courses.
“People will say, Go to school. Get a degree. I know. But can that degree fend for you?” he asked rhetorically.
He added, “You see all those people who studied Public Admin, Political Science, International Law and Diplomacy, English and History; somebody went to school to study Food and Nutrition, Jesus Christ, you will open shop and be selling cakes and chinchin or ponmo (cowhide)”, he said.
The Babcock University graduate lamented that he had not even seen a single job vacancy where the recruiter said he wanted a graduate of Political Science.
“I’ve never seen it. I’ve never seen a job advert where the recruiter says, “I need a graduate of history. I have never seen it, bro.”
He lamented that each of those courses costs a lot of money to study at Babcock, but the certificate is weak.
“Each semester like this, N1.7m, next semester, N1.2m. Like close to N2.7m per session. You will pay it for four good years. Some of us did summer. You graduate, and the certificate is worthless.
I don’t even know where my certificate is. It’s like it’s with my mother, or it’s at Anambra”, he joked.
Expressed gratitude to a church member who advised him to quickly go and take a one-year course.
He said that without his Master’s degree, his life would have been ruined, or he would have gone into crime.
