Happy Odhegba allegedly strangled and stabbed to death by Jolly Ajiofor

A man, Jolly Ajiofo, has absconded from his home in Owhelogbo community in Delta State after he killed a pretty cement supplier who visited him on Sunday, 27 July 2025.

According to information shared by human rights activist, comrade Israel Joe, Ajiofo is erecting a building in the Owhelogbo community, and Happy Odhegba is his cement supplier.

They had had the business relationship for a while before Ajiofo, a native of Imo State, invited her to his rented apartment.

The lady honoured the invitation on Sunday, but something happened between them that is not yet clear.

Neighbours claimed they heard the loud noise of the lady and then silence. The neighbours were said to have been curious about why the noise stopped abruptly, as it had started.

Unfortunately, they did not investigate it immediately. They were later to realise Ajiofo had strangled Happy and stabbed her severally.

He then absconded from his apartment and turned his phone off.

Relatives and the police have taken the body of the late cement supplier to the mortuary.

Human rights activist Joe said he got the suspect on WhatsApp, but he was hostile and asked him what his business was with the slain girl.

He appealed to members of the public to watch out for him and report to the police if they see him.

A prominent member of the community and former Secretary to the Delta State Government, Chief Ovuozourie Samuel Macaulay, paid a condolence visit to the family of the victim.

He called for community policing in the country to help curb crime at the grassroots.

Macaulay, who is the Okiroro of the Isoko nation, said there is an urgent need to take necessary action to stem the ugly tide.

He recalled that just within eight months, the community had recorded three different k! killings.

“Tomorrow, it can be anyone, he declared.
