Global outrage has trailed a video of a man forcefully kissing a little girl riding her tricycle in her neighbourhood in India.

The incident happened on July 25, 2025, in Karsur, Punjab, in broad daylight when the little girl and a boy her age were playing in the street outside their home.

The CCTV footage of the incident shows a man walking from behind the girl.

The man seized the opportunity of the little boy riding his own bicycle further ahead to grab the little girl.

He forcefully kissed her as she screamed ‘Papa!’ to draw the attention of her father, who was probably inside the house.

The molester knew what he was doing was wrong because he briefly looked around to be sure no adult was looking before grabbing the girl.

Following the girl’s scream, the man walked along fast, while the little girl picked up her tricycle and ran in the direction of her home.

The footage of the incident was posted online, instantly attracting attention, with many commenting on the level of depravity among men in the area.

A man named Shahid Aslam, with a bio suggesting he is an investigative journalist attached to BBC Urdu, tried to rationalise the molester’s action by saying that men were sexually frustrated because of a “war-like atmosphere” in the country.

He also highlighted that the men were left with no means of recreation, such as sports and related healthy activities.”

Aslam also criticised the building of a metro, which he claimed left no room for men to play.

The investigative journalist’s contribution, however, generated massive opposition, with many accusing him of making excuses for depraved behaviour.

One X user, Ms Moyana, asked Aslam why he could not simply label the molester a paedophile instead of shifting blame.

Another user wrote, “You’d think he’s justifying burglary or something”.

Yet another person tagged BBC Urdu and wondered if Aslam was truly a journalist with them.

Meanwhile, the molester is in police custody.

The police said they saw the footage of the molestation and dispatched a team to arrest the suspect, named Naseer.

Kasur District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Isa Khan said Naseer was traced to Dhanpat Road.

He said he resisted arrest, pulled out a pistol and engaged in a shootout with his team.

In the process, Naseer was injured, according to the police chief.

He further disclosed that the suspect was undergoing treatment at the Kasur District Hospital.

Khan said in accordance with the vision of the Punjab chief minister, sexual abuse of women and innocent children would not be allowed.
