Ifesinachi Onyekere, the abducted son of the Anambra State Women Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Esther Chinyere, has been killed.
Armed bandits abducted Onyekere, a businessman at the Okpuno community in Awka area of the state.
They stormed his residence on Saturday, July 27, 2025, shot him in the leg, and drove him away in his car.
The Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement on Wednesday, July 30, that the Joint Security Team comprising Anambra Vigilante operatives and the police found the remains of the late Onyekere, the Chief Executive Officer of Fish Magnet in Awka.
His car was also recovered along the Ukwulu/Igbariam road by the team.
Ikenga said the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, had directed relevant units of the command to track down the bandits who abducted and killed Onyekere.
He disclosed that preliminary investigations suggested that the bandits trailed the victim to his house before attacking him.
Ikega vowed that the police would fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act and bring them to book.
Quoting the state commissioner, he said the police owed it to the family, the deceased and the people of Anambra to find the killers and bring them to justice.
