A woman, Kirsty White, has been handed a jail term after she admitted to falsely accusing a man of rape.
Kirsty White, 28, accused Andrew Crosby of raping and abusing her after he called off their relationship.
The two had met at a pub in London in December 2024. They had some interactions and ended up in bed.
They continued to be friends, having outings but no intimacy, because Crosby did not want a serious relationship, the court heard.
Sometime in March of this year, the two had a night out in Blackpool and white pointedly asked Crosby if they were going to cap the night with some intimacy, and he said “No”.
White was displeased, but the night went without an incident.
On April 11, White asked for a loan of £20 from Crosby and refused to pay it back. When she responded rudely, the man then asked her to give him some space.
White, 28, then began a series of harassment, including turning up in front of his address to shout that he was a rapist and paedophile.
He accused him of taking advantage of her, among other offences.
She put his name, address and phone number on her Facebook wall, accusing him of raping her and being a paedophile.
In the heat of the harassment, Crosby fled the house with his father, who has epilepsy and his mother.
He even considered suicide in the course of the two-month campaign of abuse.
The convict lived across the road from Crosby, making it very easy for her to access the address to hurl obscenities at him.
When the police intervened and warned White to stay away from Crosby, she sent him small amounts of money via bank transfer and included notes that he should never contact the police again because of her.
She also professed undying love for the harassed man.
The convict also contacted Crosby’s family and friends, trying to get his new address from them.
The man lamented that his father’s epilepsy worsened, leading to four seizures on account of the stress the harassment caused the family.
He said his mother had also been in the hospital due to the stress caused by White. He said he, too, had been sleepless due to the fear of White turning up at his new address.
The court was also told White had previous convictions for sending indecent messages and for harassment.
Her lawyer, Mark Lever, blamed it all on “significant mental health issues”.
Warrington Magistrates’ Court jailed White, from Runcorn, Cheshire, for 43 weeks.
Apart from the jail sentence, White was also ordered to cough out £400 in compensation to Mr Crosby.
The convict was also banned from contacting him for five years.
