An Indian toddler, Govinda Kumar, is making global headlines after he bit a cobra to death when it attacked him.
The incident happened in Bankatwa village under Majhaulia block on Friday afternoon, July 25, 2025.
Govinda, 2, in Bettiah, West Champaran, India, was reportedly playing just outside his home when he saw the snake.
He reportedly threw a stone at the wild animal, which reacted by attacking the boy.
The cobra did not only strike but also wrapped itself around the boy’s tiny hands.
Govinda, son of one Sunil Sah, defended himself fiercely by biting the head of the snake until it died.
Govinda’s grandmother, Mateshwari Devi, said, they were alarmed to find the snake in the boy’s hand.
She said they rushed to his aid, but he had already bitten the snake severely, ending its life.
The little boy soon fainted from the venom injected into his system by the snake. His relatives rushed him to the local primary health centre from where he was referred to to Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Bettiah.
Doctors at the hospital stabilised the unconscious child, describing the case as “highly unusual”.
They opined that the cobra di£d from trauma to the head and mouth following Govinda’s bite.
The doctors said the venom injected into the boy was mild enough to knock him unconscious, but not enough to kill him.
They thanked his relatives for bringing him in for treatment promptly.
GMCH doctor Saurabh Kumar said the child is responding to treatment and was under close monitoring.
Kumar said they expected him to make a full recovery.
