
A man, identified as Amos Daniel, is being held by the police in Lagos for allegedly taking the life of his girlfriend in a hotel in the Ayobo area of the state.
The police said Daniel, on Thursday, July 17, 2025, lodged in the hotel with his friends around 5 pm.
Daniel, who is also known as Gambit, was later joined in the room by his girlfriend, named Endurance, from Akwa Ibom State.
All seemed to be going well until about 10 pm, when a strange noise was heard from the room occupied by Daniel and Endurance.
A fellow lodger at the hotel told the Punch he stayed in the room next to the couple and was also alarmed by the strange noise.
The lodger who identified himself as Adio said he stepped out to investigate and also realised another person had already informed the security.
Together they all approached the room and knocked severally times without any response.
The manager of the hotel reportedly got the room’s spare key and opened the room to reveal the victim in a pool of her blood on the floor.
The manager, staff and guests reportedly searched frantically for Daniel and his friends to no avail.
But when they extended the search outside, they saw Daniel make a dash for the gate and pursued him till he was caught.
Danel reportedly confessed that he killed his girlfriend for ritual in collusion with two of his friends.
The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, told the Punch that a team of police men from Ayobo Division were dispatched to the scene.
He said the police team took pictures of the crime scene and was currently investigating the case.
Hundeyin said Endurance was stabbed several times in the belly, head and ribs, giving her no chance for survival.
He revealed that the house of the Daniel’s house was searched by the police. They allegedly recovered a UTC axe, a machete, a cutlass, jack knives, a service jungle boot, a laptop, a big pair of scissors and a local sponge.
The PPRO said the remains of he victim had been taken to the Mainland General Hospital, Yaba mortuary.
He said the case file, the recovered exhibits, and the suspect had been moved to SCID Yaba for further investigation.
