Politician and accomplished journalist, Dele Momodu, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Ovation magazine publisher cited the party’s hijack by “antidemocratic forces” as his reason for the decision.

It would be recalled that former Vice President of the country, Atiku Abubakar, similarly resigned his membership of PDP, citing some reasons.

Dele Momodu conveyed his resignation in a letter dated July 17, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 4 in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Like Atiku, Momodu also said his resignation took “immediate effect.”

The Ovation publisher said PDP had become a “carcass” in the hands of some people who were undermining internal democracy within the party.

He said bowing out at this time was an honourable thing to do.

The politician said he, with some others, are signing up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress.

He expressed appreciation to the party for the support given to him in the past, including allowing him to vie for the party’s presidential ticket in the 2023 general elections.
