Two students of Government Secondary School, Bichi Local Government, Kano, have ended up in the mortuary after they were tortured to death by their mates.

Two others are currently fighting for their lives in the intensive care unit of Bichi General Hospital after receiving severe beatings from the same suspects.

The offences of the students are not clear, but reports indicated that they were accused of “unnatural offences”.

A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, posted the incident, adding that the principal of the school, Yusuf Ado Yakasai, reported it to the police on July 15, 2025.

According to him, the incident happened on July 14 about 11:30 p.m.

A group of senior students allegedly invited the victims to a room in their hostel, where they then began to torture them.

The victims were identified as Umar Yusuf (18), SS2C; Hamza Idris (19), SS3B; Ibrahim Ibrahim, SS2B; and Aliyu M. Nasir, SS2C.

The school authorities learnt of the development late and reportedly rushed the victims to Bichi General Hospital.

The doctors on duty reportedly certified Idris and Yusuf dead, while Ibrahim and Nasir were put in intensive care, where they are said to be responding to treatment.

The police have been to the school to make some arrests. The 12 suspects picked up over the incident include Ahmad Sanusi, Suleman Abdullahi, Lawan Alasan Tambai, Aliyu Idris, Abubakar Abdulaziz (all of SS3A); Hamza Isiyaku,  Ibrahim Nura, (SS3B); Usaini Mamuda, Yasir Murtala, Masaudu Idris (SS3C); and Abubakar Muhammad (SS3D).

The police are currently interrogating the suspects to understand the full role each of them played in the incident.

Incidents of bullying in boarding schools have been a cause for concern for many parents. Some of the horrific cases happened in highbrow schools.

In 2021, a student, Sylvester Oromoni, was allegedly bullied by his schoolmates at Doween College, Lagos. He later died in a hospital while undergoing treatment.
