The police in Canada have identified the shooter who killed a young Ghanaian immigrant, Belinda Sarkodie, on her way to a local supermarket in Hamilton, Ontario, last week.

Seventeen-year-old Mackale Lavoie was named by the police as the killer of the young woman.

Lavoie is yet to be apprehended. An arrest warrant has been issued for him, and members of the public are requested to provide any useful information that can lead to his arrest.

The suspect is wanted for second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Police allege that Lavoie set out to eliminate three people and encountered them at approximately 5:25 p.m. on July 11.

The suspect immediately opened fire on his targets, hitting one instantly while the other two fled.

Lavoie then continued to shoot at a second person, and in the process hit an innocent bystander, Belinda, 26.

The environment was immediately overtaken by panic and apprehension, creating room for the suspect to get away.

A video of the immediate aftermath of the shooting shows bystanders looking at the body of the Ghanaian woman at a street corner.

Belinda’s compatriot wails outside the police crime scene cordon tape.

“She just dashed out to get a few things from the supermarket”, the fellow Ghanaian lady wails.
