‘I thank God, Buhari who wanted to kill me is dead’- activist Sunday Igboho

Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, has taken to social media to express gratitude to God for sparing his life while the man who ‘tried to kill’ him has died.
Igboho was reacting to the news of the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
In a video he released on social media, Igboho, who is seated in what appears to be a living room, speaks directly to the camera”
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. (Smiling). I thank God for my life today. My people, Buhari don die! See life. See life. The Buhari criminal man that sent DSS and military to come and kill me middle in the night, July 4th, 2021, he died today. See life!”
Igboho said the incident was instructive and people needed to learn from it.
“That criminal man, Muhammadu Buhari, he don die. See, I’m alive today. I thank God. God thank you for my life today.”
He accused Buhari, a Fulani by tribe, of colluding with some Yoruba people to eliminate him.
The activist said it was only God who saved him.
“That criminal Fulani man with some st*pid Yoruba people that ganged up and came to my house middle in the night and tried to take my life. But God said no. If God says yes, no man can say no. See life. He don die today. Thank God. God I thank you!”
It would be recalled that security officials stormed the activist’s home in Ibadan on July 1st, 2021. Two of his aides were killed while 13 others were arrested.
Sunday Igboho’s post has continued to generate mixed reactions. Some congratulated him on outliving his enemy, while others cautioned against rejoicing at the demise of anyone.
@gabriel_bolatit opined that Igboho’s action was not wise. “This is not wise, never mock a dead person, even though you guys might have a contrary opinion against him. Just ignore”
@DJOyalowo: “He died b4 you at what age? Odensy buruku!”
@cryptobull_rP “You self go d$e one day, just rest.”
@azeezotaiwo: “Pray to live to his age first before mocking him. It’s well with your sense, bro”
@bunmi_speaks: “Lmao. Classic case of “He who laughs last, laughs best.”
And for the f00łz who want to fault him for this, maybe you should’ve been in his shoes and see if you’d have survived that assassination attempt by this same Buhari for simply speaking up for your people.”
