
Buckswood School Abeokuta has applauded the Ogun State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) for commemorating the 91st birthday of Professor Wole Soyinka on July 13, 2025, with a special reading session.
The school also hosted Ana Ogun for the event.
Mr. Olusoji Ogunsile, Buckswood’s Vice Principal, noted that the session was truly enlightening and impactful for all participants.
Ogunsile commented that the visit could help rekindle the reading culture among students. He added, “Your presence has made a difference and will certainly inspire our students.”
As reported by Dr. Chris Omotosho, ANA Ogun Chairman, the event also served as the launch of the Chapter’s “Catch Them Young” outreach initiative, starting with Buckswood.
Dr. Omotosho invited children to take advantage of the chance to interact with authors and public figures.
Renowned writer, MSC Okolo, also presented the keynote address. “The Writer, Writing and Society”.
In her speech, she called on students to read and sharpen observational skills, write frequently, and think critically.
The session also included a hands-on literary appreciation class where students read aloud his poem: “Telephone Conversation”.
