Ghanaian immigration officer found dead after his friend called him to come for GH¢ 200k (N29m) debt

A Ghanaian immigration officer, Stephen King Amoah, has been found stabbed and burnt to death after he was invited out by his best friend to come and collect the money he owed the officer.
Amoah’s family declared him missing on July 3rd after he failed to return home. His charred remains were later discovered in an open drainage near the Comet Estate, Accra, Ghana, on July 9.
The body, which was severely burned, was positively identified by the deceased’s relatives.
Investigations later unearthed the activities of the late officer on the 3rd of July, just before he disappeared, and his phone was switched off.
It was gathered that about 8:00 p.m. on the fateful day, Amoah left his residence in Ashongman Estate after receiving WhatsApp images of bundles of Cedi notes from a certain Bright Aweh, who was his good friend.
Aweh added a note to the image that Stephen should meet him at a location in Ashongman Estate to collect the money he (Aweh) owed him (King).
Following the discovery of the charred body of King, Ghanaian Police picked up Aweh and questioned him about the last moments of the deceased.
He reportedly admitted that they met at the aforementioned location. He claimed that he gave the deceased the GH¢ 200,000 he owed him (King) in cash.
Aweh claimed he gave the deceased an additional GH¢ 300,000 for safe-keeping, making it a total of GH¢ 500,000 he gave him.
The police said Aweh had no coherent response to the question about the source of the money.
Meanwhile, social media in Ghana is awash with photos and videos of the two men enjoying good times together in the past, suggesting they had a strong bond.
The police, in their statement, promised to get to the root of the matter and report back to the public.
