As a result of the Lagos State Local Government elections scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025, there will be a total restriction of vehicular movement across the state from 3:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on election Day.

The Lagos Command’s Public Relations officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced this in a statement.

He said the move was part of efforts to ensure a safe and peaceful election in Lagos.

The restriction will affect the road and water transportation in Lagos, with the exception being vehicles providing essential services such as ambulances, fire trucks, and security patrol vehicles involved in the election process.

Accredited officials of LASIEC, election observers, and media personnel will also be allowed to move around, provided they carry LASIEC-certified identification tags.

The police also announced a strict ban on the use of armed escorts and private security aides at voting or collation venues.

Sirens and covered number plates in or around election centres have also been forbidden.

The Police Command stated that anyone caught violating the movement restriction would be arrested and prosecuted without delay.

The Lagos Police Command also urged parents and guardians to warn their children and wards against involvement in violence

It would be recalled that the last LG elections held in Lagos also necessitated restriction of vehicles.
