The United States Embassy’s offices in Abuja and Lagos are not open to the public today, July 4, 2025, in observance of U.S. Independence Day.
The holiday commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, when the 13 American colonies officially declared their independence from British rule.
As a result, routine consular services—including visa processing—are on hold at both the embassy and consulate.
Despite the closure, emergency services remain available via official contact channels.
Full operations are expected to resume on Monday, July 7, 2025.
