Students evacuated from Birmingham school after bomb threat

Birmingham

Students at Arena Academy in Birmingham were evacuated on Thursday morning, July 3, 2025, following a bomb threat that triggered an immediate police response and emergency safety measures.

West Midlands Police confirmed they were alerted to the emailed threat and promptly dispatched officers to the school, located in the Great Barr area. While initial assessments suggested the threat was not credible, officers remained on-site as a precaution and conducted thorough checks.

Parents were promptly notified of the incident.

A message, reportedly sent out by nearby Priestley Smith School, stated: “We have received a message from Priestley Smith School this morning informing us there has been a bomb threat. We are not sure if this is a credible threat but we’re following our protocols and currently evacuating to Turnbury Park. Police are also supporting us. We will keep you fully informed.”

Arena Academy later confirmed that students would not return to class for the rest of the day, as police continued their inspection of the premises.

Authorities have yet to release further details regarding the origin of the threat or potential suspects.
