Farmer rescues newborn buried alive in Kebbi farmland

A newborn baby girl has been miraculously rescued after being buried alive in a farmland in Kamba, located in Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The discovery was made by a farmer, Malam Kabiru Kamba, while working on his farm on June 27, 2025.

He noticed a suspicious mound of soil and stopped some passing motorcyclists to help him investigate further.

As they dug into the spot, they found a piece of cloth buried beneath the soil. Sensing something unusual, Kamba immediately contacted nearby police officers.

The police quickly arrived and continued digging, eventually uncovering a baby girl—alive and crying.

Authorities have since launched an investigation into the disturbing incident.

Meanwhile, the Kebbi State Government, through its Gender-Based Violence Technical Working Group, has pledged to notify the Wife of the Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Idris, to facilitate intervention and support for the rescued child.
