Reno Omokri alleges Peter Obi sent him CV in bid to become Atiku’s running mate in 2019, shares purported email

Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has stirred controversy after releasing a purported email allegedly sent by Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, containing his curriculum vitae for consideration as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate ahead of the 2019 general election.
Speaking during a podcast appearance last week, Omokri claimed he played a pivotal role in positioning Obi for the vice-presidential slot, following a directive from former President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to him, Atiku Abubakar had asked him to recommend a candidate for the role, prompting him to consult with Jonathan, who reportedly recommended Peter Obi.
Omokri said he proceeded to include Obi in a shortlist alongside other candidates, asserting that Obi persistently followed up with him, sending his CV and calling repeatedly.
“Peter Obi was calling, saying, ‘Reno, have you gotten the CV? Refresh your inbox!” he said, adding, “If he denies it, I will disgrace him. The emails are there.”
He further stated that he and Senator Ben Murray-Bruce were instrumental in packaging Obi as the ideal running mate, despite his personal reservations.
Following widespread scepticism and calls from Nigerians for him to back up his claims, Omokri took to social media to share the alleged email from Peter Obi.
The development has reignited political debates online, with supporters and critics of both men weighing in.
