Mrs. Vivian Abi, the wife of Mr. Abi Barango—who was recently accused of assaulting and stabbing his longtime mistress—has publicly addressed the controversy, shedding light on the complexities behind the domestic incident that has gained widespread attention.
The incident is believed to have happened in Port Harcourt.
The young lady reportedly accused Barango of assaulting her and inflicting serious injuries on her.
In comments attributed to sources close to the family, Mrs. Abi denied that her husband had ever been violent toward her during their 14-year marriage.
However, she acknowledged being aware of his decade-long extramarital relationship with the alleged victim, calling it a painful truth she had silently endured.
Mrs. Abi went on to accuse the mistress of repeatedly contacting her husband in effort to extort money, revealing that a recent bank transfer of ₦1.5 million was made to the woman.
Although she strongly condemned the alleged violent attack, Mrs. Abi suggested that the matter could have been handled differently.
She expressed a wish for the mistress to be taught a lesson—not through violence, but through a deeper understanding of respect and boundaries.
“I would have preferred a different way to make her understand she cannot continue to disrespect people’s marriages,” she was quoted as saying, indicating her frustration was more with the woman’s actions than with her husband’s infidelity.
The alleged victim, whose identity has not been made public, is currently receiving medical treatment.
A picture of her with her head heavily bandaged is trending. The face also shows dried blood apparently from the wound allegedly inflicted on her head.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and legal action is expected as the case unfolds.
