A picture sent to a friend has proven to be the only clue to unravel the disappearance of a young Nigerian woman, Osaro Festus, in Delta State.

Festus met a man identified as Joshua online and carried on a romantic relationship with him online for some time.

Joshua reportedly invited her to his apartment, and she agreed.

On April 20, 2025, Osaro left her family’s house with a female friend who had come to visit her and headed to Joshua’s house, while her parents assumed she was going to her female friend’s house.

While she did not tell her parents where she was going, she confided in her friend and even sent her the picture of the man she was visiting.

When Osaro did not return from the outing, her parents contacted the friend she left home with, who then sent them the picture of the man she had gone to visit. The police were then contacted.

It is not clear if the late Osaro also sent the address of the man or just described the location to her friend. The police, however, indicated that it took them two months to track down Joshua at his home.

When confronted with the picture the deceased had sent to her friend telling her who she was with, Joshua admitted she was with him, and claimed she slipped in his flat and d!ed.

He later confessed to hitting her during an argument and took them to a shallow grave where Osaro’s remains were recovered.
