Indonesian man kills neighbour who keeps pestering him about when he’d marry

Dead body with tag

An argument between neighbours in Indonesia turned deadly after a 45-year-old man, identified as Siregar, fatally assaulted his 60-year-old neighbour, Asgim Irianto, during a confrontation on June 23, 2025.

According to The Straits Times, the incident occurred following an ongoing dispute between the two men, which initially centred on a quarrel about their hens.

However, witnesses revealed that tensions had been simmering for a while, largely due to Irianto’s frequent questions about when Siregar would marry —remarks the accused reportedly found offensive and provoking.

On the night of the incident, around 8 p.m., the verbal exchange escalated into violence when Siregar, in a fit of rage, struck Irianto with a piece of wood at his residence.

The elderly man tried to escape but was chased into the street, where concerned residents intervened and rushed him to the hospital.

Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead en route.

Siregar was subsequently taken into custody by the police.
