Lady who celebrated her ‘soulmate’ on Facebook found murd3red, decapitated by same man in UK

In one of the most harrowing cases to reach the High Court in Glasgow, 27-year-old postman Ewan Methven has admitted to the brutal murder and decapitation of his girlfriend, 21-year-old Phoenix Spencer-Horn, at their shared flat in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire.
Interestingly, the victim’s Facebook page is filled with lovey-dovey pictures of her with Methven, whom she happily called her ‘soul mate’ in a recent post.
What began as a seemingly loving relationship, publicly celebrated with affectionate photos and social media posts, descended into horror on the night of November 16, 2024.
Methven str@ngled Phoenix, st@bbed her 20 times, and severed her head in what prosecutors described as an act of unimaginable savagery.
In the 48 hours that followed, Methven remained in the flat with Phoenix’s mutilated body.
He used her phone to send misleading text messages to her mother, Alison Spencer, pretending Phoenix was still alive.
At the same time, he accessed pornographic websites over 170 times and arranged drug purchases.
When he finally contacted emergency services on November 18, Methven told operators he had experienced a “drug-induced psychotic break,” blaming the attack on steroids and cocaine he claimed had been spiked.
Police found Phoenix’s naked and dismembered body in the hallway, with evidence of an attempted dismemberment of her torso, wrist, and ankle.
Court records revealed disturbing details from Methven’s past, including social media posts dating back to his teenage years expressing violent fantasies and glorifying drug use. Despite being considered “popular” by some, locals also described him as deeply disturbed and emotionally detached.
Phoenix, affectionately known as “Phe,” worked at a hotel and coffee shop and was remembered by family and friends for her warmth, radiance, and passion for life.
Her mother, Alison, described the family as “shattered forever,” sharing that they had marked what would have been Phoenix’s 21st birthday with a symbolic farewell party.
During sentencing, Methven was described by his own lawyer as “the personification of evil.”
An official date for sentencing has yet to be announced.
