Anger rises against Nigerians in Tamale, Ghana after car rams couple hours after their wedding (Video)

Anger is welling up against Nigerians living in Tamale, Northern Ghana, after a car, allegedly driven by Nigerians, rammed into a newly married couple on a motorcycle and k!lled them just hours after celebrating their wedding.

The heartbreaking incident occurred late Sunday night, June 22, 2025, around 11:00 PM along the Gurugu road.

The couple, whose names have not been officially disclosed, had earlier in the day exchanged vows in a joyous ceremony attended by family and friends.

According to a relative of the groom, the wedding had been a moment of great happiness and fulfilment, especially for the groom, who had reportedly faced challenges finding a life partner.

Sadly, while travelling on a motorcycle from the family home to the groom’s rented apartment in Gurugu, the couple was struck by an unregistered vehicle.

Witnesses allege the car was driven by a group of Nigerian nationals who fled the scene immediately after the collision.

Another witness accused the relatives of the occupants of the car of rescuing only their own to the hospital, while leaving behind the severely injured Ghanaian couple.

Emergency responders later came to the scene and transported the wife’s remains to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) morgue about 2:50 AM this morning, Monday, June 23.

The husband, who was still alive at the time of the accident, reportedly told early responders where to find their relatives. He later died at the hospital, according to reports.

It remains to be established that the occupants of the vehicle were indeed Nigerians, as alleged.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to identify the driver and determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
