
The elderly woman who was in the news after being kicked out by her employer in America has safely returned to Nigeria.
It would be recalled that the plight of the 79-year-old Nigerian woman was brought to the limelight by a US-based professional compere, who disclosed that the elderly woman was unceremoniously kicked out of a home where she was rendering nanny duties.
In a heartrending video, the woman who spoke Yoruba said she worked for her white employer for eight months on the agreement that she would be paid $850 per month.
She claimed the lady promised to upgrade her pay to $1,100 if she worked flawlessly.
She was reportedly tasked with caring for three children while the woman she worked for left home daily at 5 a.m. and returned at 10 p.m.
Despite her dedication and round-the-clock efforts, she claims she never received any compensation.
In her own words, she said, “She was using me and making me suffer. I took care of her three children while she left at 5 a.m. and returned at 10 p.m. She owes me seven months’ salary at $850 per month. She told me that if there were no complaints about me starting from June, she would increase my pay to $1,100. But today, she sent me away without giving me anything.”
She was outside alone for about six hours before the MC was contacted. She filmed her and exposed her story to the Nigerian community in the US, raising instant support for her.
It was learnt that the employer was alarmed about the swollen stomach of the elderly woman and did not want to shoulder her healthcare. ]
Mama was said to be suffering from fluid retention symptomatic of kidney issues.
Rather than give her the money she owed her, the white lady called the cops on the elderly woman after she refused to leave the house and insisted on collecting her money.
The police reportedly arrived but declined to evict the woman when they realised she was owed some money. The moment the police returned to their offices, the while woman reportedly pushed the old woman out and threw out her belongings.
Some people contributed money to assist the old woman buy a ticket to return to Nigeria, because she said she lacked the funds to even purchase a ticket to return home
In an update, the youngest daughter of the aged woman, Ayomidele Ajuwon, sent a message to Microsecondnews to announce that Mama has safely arrived back in Nigeria.
