The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed the Abuja office of TLSContact, a visa application support service provider, citing obstruction of a regulatory investigation, customer exploitation, and physical assault on its officers.

TLScontact’s office in Abuja handles the collection and transmission of visa applications for UK, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Israel.

On Thursday, June 19, FCCPC officials—accompanied by police and other security personnel—stormed the TLSContact office, evacuated the staff, and sealed off the premises.

During the enforcement operation, Boladale Adeyinka, Director of Surveillance and Investigation at the FCCPC, told reporters that the visa centre was involved in multiple infractions, including repeated attacks on law enforcement personnel and failure to cooperate with the Commission’s investigation.

According to Adeyinka, the situation escalated from a March 25, 2025, complaint filed by a customer who claimed TLSContact collected full payment but failed to deliver the expected visa services.

Rather than complying with due process as outlined in the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA), the company’s staff reportedly assaulted FCCPC officers sent to investigate the matter.

She further disclosed that the Commission subsequently issued a summons under Section 33 of the FCCPA, requiring TLSContact to appear for questioning.

However, the staff allegedly refused to receive the summons and again assaulted Commission officials—this time, including uniformed police officers providing lawful protection.

“In light of these repeated acts of obstruction and physical aggression, the Executive Vice Chairman of the FCCPC, Tunji Bello, approved the sealing of the TLSContact facility for engaging in business practices deemed unlawful under the FCCPA,” Adeyinka said.

She also revealed that fresh complaints were still pouring in from dissatisfied customers, even during the enforcement operation, with several Nigerians alleging they were being shortchanged by the visa center.

While the FCCPC team was on-site, a TLSContact representative reportedly accepted a fresh summons addressed to the country manager, requiring the company’s appearance before the Commission on Friday, June 20.
