Renowned female bodybuilding champion, Zunilda Hoyos Mendez, known online as the “Colombian She-Hulk,” has been found murd3red in her Costa del Sol home in Spain.

Spanish police believe she was beaten to death with a hammer by her husband, Jarrod Gelling, who then took his own life with a kn!fe.

Zunilda, 43, and her 46-year-old husband were discovered on June 19 at their luxury apartment in Fuengirola, Malaga.

Officers found her lifeless body showing signs of brutal violence, while Gelling was found in the bathroom with apparent self-inflicted stab wounds.

The couple had just returned from Dubai, where they reportedly spent a lot of time. Zunilda’s family claimed she had been missing since Saturday, June 14, and intended to leave her husband following repeated alleged aggression.

Her niece, Yuleydis, told local media that Zunilda was preparing to travel to Portugal for a competition after nursing Gelling post-surgery and had planned to return to Colombia alone.

“This was her final goodbye,” Yuleydis said, adding that Zunilda had previously separated from Gelling due to mistreatment but had reconciled with hopes things would improve.

The alarm was raised by a friend from her gym who hadn’t seen her since June 14. Authorities responded to the property after her disappearance was reported at the Torremolinos police station. No prior domestic violence complaints had been filed against the couple in Spain.

Spanish police confirmed that the man was of American origin, though reports indicate he held dual Colombian and U.S. citizenship.

If confirmed, Zunilda’s murder would mark the third gender-based killing in Malaga and the fifth in Andalucia in 2025.

Zunilda was a prominent figure in the bodybuilding community and had a strong presence online, with over 100,000 followers on platforms like OnlyFans and Fansly.

She gained second place in the 2021 NPC Worldwide Latin American Championships and was coached by Branden Rey, who mourned her loss on Instagram:

“We had 17 days until we hit the stage and shock the world. I believed she could finish among the top 10 globally this year.”
