The Edumoga Youth Association (EYA) has called for a thorough investigation into the alleged murder of Miss Aladi Offikwu Johnson, popularly known as Tessy, an indigene of Olaidu, Edumoga in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.
Tessy was discovered dead with her hands tied behind her back in a hotel room located in the Gwarinpa area of Abuja on June 16, 2025.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Thursday, June 19, EYA’s National President, Alhaji Lucky Itodo, condemned the killing and demanded swift action to ensure the culprit is apprehended and prosecuted.
He emphasised that the matter must not be brushed aside.
According to Itodo, Tessy had checked into a hotel on 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, the same day she was found dead, alongside an unidentified man.
The man was seen leaving the hotel without her. Her lifeless body was discovered by hotel staff during a routine room check.
“This is a wicked and heartless crime. Young women are no longer safe in Abuja, and the authorities must take urgent action,” Itodo stated.
He further described Tessy’s killing as part of a disturbing trend, warning that ritualists and cybercriminals are turning the nation’s capital into a death trap for unsuspecting victims.
“We’re tired of burying our daughters. If Abuja becomes unsafe, then the entire nation is vulnerable,” he added.
He also advised young women to be cautious and avoid meeting unknown individuals, especially for material gain.
“Hookup culture is dangerous and often ends in tragedy. This is a wake-up call,” he said.
EYA extended condolences to Tessy’s family and appealed to community leaders and the general public to support the fight for justice.
