‘I was in bed with him, but not sure if there was s3x’, American legend, Barbra Streisand speaks on relationship with movie icon, Warren Beatty

 

Veteran actress and singer Barbra Streisand, 83, has reignited public interest in her decades-old connection with actor Warren Beatty, 88, after admitting in a recent interview that she’s unsure whether the two ever had s3x.

In a candid conversation with The New Yorker, published on June 14, Streisand reflected on the relationship she previously referenced in her 2023 memoir, My Name Is Barbra.

“I know I slept in the bed with him, but I can’t remember if we actually had penetration,” she revealed. “I swear to God, I can’t. There are certain things I block out.”

Streisand, who met Beatty when she was just 16 and he was 21 at the Clinton Playhouse in Connecticut, described him in her memoir as “tall with movie-star looks,” and noted that “women were already falling at his feet.” The two developed a close relationship that has lasted nearly 70 years.

When pressed further during the interview, Streisand quickly changed the subject but confirmed that she and Beatty remain close. “Every year on my birthday, he calls me and we have a wonderful talk about our lives, our children, and so forth,” she said.

In a 1977 interview with Playboy, Streisand casually referred to Beatty as “one of my flings,” though she later clarified it was said in a dismissive tone. Despite her uncertainty about the physical nature of their past, she emphasised their enduring friendship, stating there’s been “some water under that bridge.”

She also recalled a recent phone call with Beatty in which he said, “I remember why we broke up.” Streisand responded, “When were we together?” After the call, she reflected, “I kind of remember. I guess I did. Probably once.”

Both Hollywood legends have since moved on to long-term marriages. Streisand married actor James Brolin, 84, in 1998, and Beatty tied the knot with actress Annette Bening, 67, in 1992.

In a separate interview, Brolin spoke affectionately about his life with Streisand, saying, “The best investment we’ve ever made is our mattress… We’re both lazy. We love to sleep late. We do a lot of our work on the phone, on paper, reading, right next to each other.”

Despite the lingering mystery, Streisand summed up her bond with Beatty as a “friendship for life.”
